Researchers said that the hackers made a mistake while they illegally entered the systems. According to Mandiant, a cybersecurity firm and a subsidiary of Google that is assisting one of JumpCloud’s affected customers, has claimed that the hackers were working for North Korea’s Reconnaissance General Bureau, or RGB. Mandiant attributed these intrusions to UNC4899.
