The Indian government is said to be considering restrictions on the import of a number of electronic devices, including cameras, printers, telephones, hard drives and components, to promote domestic production. The level of purchases of these high-tech products from overseas is said to have bucked growth trends in recent years, raising concerns that a portion of this spending could potentially be redirected into domestic manufacturing. Earlier this month, the Indian government imposed restrictions on computer, laptop, and tablet imports.
