Apple has been cleared by a U.S. judge to pay up to $500m to settle a class-action lawsuit claiming that the company secretly slowed down certain iPhone models to address battery and processing problems. Owners of eligible older models were expected to receive about $65 each, however, exact payouts depend on numbers of claims approved from approximately three million claims made so far. Apple denied the charges but agreed to pay $310m out of the $500m settlement. The eligible iPhones include models 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, and SE running iOS 10.2.1 or later before 21 December 2017, and iPhone 7 and 7 Plus running iOS 11.2 or later before that date.
